Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition with the Supreme Court, seeking a seven-day extension on his interim bail in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. AAP national convenor Kejriwal cited serious health concerns, including a recent weight loss of 7 kg and elevated ketone levels, as reasons necessitating medical tests, including a PET-CT scan.

Initially granted interim bail until June 1 by the Supreme Court to participate in his Lok Sabha election campaign, AAP supremo Kejriwal now seeks an extension to undergo crucial medical examinations. The apex court while granting interim bail had also directed him to surrender on June 2. Max Hospital's medical team has already conducted preliminary examinations. The Chief Minister's legal counsel argued that these tests are essential for his well-being, urging the court to grant the extension to complete the necessary medical investigations.
The interim bail granted to Mr. Kejriwal had stirred controversy, with BJP leaders alleging that he received "special treatment" from the top court. However, the justices involved in granting the bail had stated that no exceptions were made in Mr. Kejriwal's favor.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in connection to the alleged liquor policy case. Kejriwal's former deputy Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and BRS leader K Kavitha were also arrested in the same case. The probe agency contends that the AAP received kickbacks in huge amounts for giving licenses to the 'South group', and that money was allegedly used by the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and Goa assembly elections.

The arrest of Arvind Kejriwal marked a huge setback for the party. The AAP alleges that whole plot is orchestrated by the ruling BJP government at the centre and contends that central probe agencies are working on behest of BJP. The ED has no filed a fresh chargesheet in the liquor policy case where whole party 'AAP' is named.
