The Delhi Public Works Department formally allotted the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow in the Civil Lines area to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, two days after she was reportedly forced to vacate the residence. A letter from the Public Works Department (PWD) confirmed the official allocation after completing the required handover procedures and inventory checks.
The bungalow has been the centre of a political dispute involving the AAP, BJP, and the Lieutenant Governor's office since former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal vacated it earlier this month. The Public Works Department officials on Wednesday stated that civil and electrical engineers received the keys from the chief minister's office staff, who they claimed removed Atishi's belongings voluntarily before handing over the residence.
However, the CMO refuted the claim alleging that the LG and BJP were behind the eviction. They accused the BJP, which has been out of power in Delhi for 27 years, of attempting to get control of the residence and unlawfully removing Atishi’s belongings in order to prepare the house for allocation to a senior BJP leader.
Atishi is required to accept the allotment and submit the necessary documents, including attested family photographs, within eight days of receiving the offer. After this, she will receive an authority slip to take possession of the property.

The PWD letter also states that Atishi must vacate her previously allotted residence on Mathura Road within 15 days of taking possession of the Flagstaff Road bungalow. The Mathura Road residence was assigned to her last year when she assumed her role as a minister in the Delhi government.
