Delhi Crime: In northwest Delhi, a woman allegedly killed her five-year-old daughter by strangulation in order to wed a man she met on Instagram, police saion Saturday. Police reported that Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital informed them on Friday that the child had been brought to the hospital dead.
They claimed that additional investigation had found strangling marks on the child's neck.
According to a statement from Delhi Police, a case was filed right away, and the mother and other family members of the child were questioned.
The mother broke down and admitted to strangling her daughter after being questioned for a long time, the statement claimed.
The woman said during questioning that she had been dumped by her first husband and that she had then connected with Rahul on Instagram. She later relocated to Delhi with the goal of getting married to him.
Rahul, however, declined to get married since he and his family did not accept the child. It went on to say that the mother strangled her child out of exasperation.
According to the police, the woman also disclosed that she had been residing with a relative in Himachal Pradesh prior to moving to Delhi, where her child had been sexually abused.
Police said, a case has been filed at Ashok Vihar police station under sections 103 (murder penalty), 65(2) (rape penalty in specific situations), and 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
They said that more investigations are being conducted.
