Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Update: A major transformation in North India's road connectivity is just around the corner. In less than 48 hours, travel between Delhi and Dehradun is set to become significantly faster and smoother with the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14.

Once operational, the high-speed corridor will slash travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from nearly six to seven hours to just 2.5 hours, offering a faster and more efficient alternative to commuters.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Key Details

- The 210-km Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from around 6-7 hours to about 2.5 hours.

- According to a report by NDTV, the expressway is a six-lane, access-controlled corridor with a speed limit of 100 km/h for cars.

- It starts near the Akshardham Temple in Delhi and passes through Baghpat, Baraut, Shamli, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh before reaching Dehradun.

- The expressway has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore.

- The expressway includes seven interchanges, two rail overbridges, 10 major bridges, and 14 wayside amenities.

- The expressway will feature a spur connecting to Haridwar and integration with the Char Dham Highway network, improving access to Uttarakhand's key pilgrimage and hill destinations.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Focus On Environment And Wildlife

- A 12-km elevated stretch passing through Rajaji National Park to allow unrestricted movement of wildlife.

- Two elephant underpasses of 200 metres each and six dedicated animal crossings to ensure safe movement of wildlife and minimise road accidents.
