The Excise Department of the Delhi government has invited applications for hotel, club and restaurant (HCR) licences before the expiry of the existing excise duty policy on September 30. The applicants will need to submit several documents, such as health and trade licences, fire safety clearance and eating house registration.

The Delhi government had extended the old excise policy by six months in March, as it had not prepared a new policy yet. The old policy was reinstated in July 2022 after the lieutenant governor recommended a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the new policy.

The old policy was supposed to end on March 31 but it was extended till September 30 as a temporary measure. The excise department has not revealed whether it will further extend the old policy or introduce a new one.

The hotel, club and restaurant chains must have requisite documents and licence to operate in the national capital while following the rules and regulations laid by the government.
