Delhi-Ghaziabad Traffic: The construction of the Nand Nagri flyover, which will connect the Mandoli prison complex to Gagan Cinema, is nearing completion. By bypassing the notorious Gagan Cinema traffic signal, the flyover aims to offer a signal-free route to commuters heading towards Ghaziabad, Seemapuri, and other nearby areas.
In a major update, the Nand Nagri flyover is likely to be inaugurated on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Times of India reported. Apart from this, several other infrastructure and welfare projects will also be inaugurated by the Delhi government during Seva Pakhwada to mark PM Modi’s birthday.
Details About Nand Nagri Flyover
- Spanning over 1.5 km, the Nand Nagri flyover will feature six lanes and six U-turns beneath it. Among the six U-turns, one is near the Nand Nagri police station, two back-to-back U-turns are located 500 metres ahead of the police station turn, two more back-to-back U-turns near the Gagan Cinema bus stop and one additional U-turn beyond the Gagan Cinema junction.
- The Nand Nagri flyover will connect the Mandoli prison complex to the heavily congested Gagan Cinema.
- The flyover will be a crucial link for commuters travelling from Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) to Wazirabad (Delhi) via the Signature Bridge.
- The flyover will provide a signal-free corridor for commuters heading towards Ghaziabad, Seemapuri, and other nearby areas.
- The flyover is a part of 77 infrastructure projects identified by the Delhi government to ease congestion in the national capital.
- The Public Works Department (PWD) will undertake mural work under the elevated corridor.
- In addition to this, two traffic junctions under the flyover will be enhanced. Additional infrastructure work, including construction of footpaths, installation of drainage systems, erection of road signage, and Installation of safety fixtures, will take place.
"There were some environmental clearances that were causing obstructions, but these have now been expedited as we want to dedicate it to the public on the occasion of the Prime Minister's birthday," PWD minister Parvesh Verma said.
