PM Modi Birthday: The Delhi government is gearing up to roll out major infrastructure and welfare projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore during ‘Seva Pakhwada’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Seva Pakhwada, or a fortnight of service, will be run from September 17, which is the birthday of PM Modi, to Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
The government will unveil projects across multiple sectors, such as water supply, sewage, drainage, and road development, to boost development in the national capital.
From Drainage Master Plan To New Flyovers: Check List
- Drainage Master Plan: The Delhi government is set to roll out a comprehensive Drainage Master Plan aimed at addressing chronic waterlogging and flooding in urban areas during the monsoon season.
- Yamuna Clean-Up: In a significant push to reduce pollution in the Yamuna and support river clean-up efforts, the Delhi Government will set up an Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
- 13 Projects By Delhi Jal Board: During Seva Pakhwada, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) will unveil 13 new projects to strengthen the city’s water and sanitation systems. Key initiatives include a new sewer network in Sonia Vihar to address long-standing sanitation issues, a Master Balancing Reservoir at Palla to boost water storage and distribution, and an Underground Reservoir at Bijwasan to stabilise supply in South-West Delhi. In addition to this, new sewage and water treatment plants will be set up across the national capital.
- Nang Nagri Flyover: A new flyover will be opened to the public in East Delhi to ease traffic congestion and reduce travel time.
- Rajputana Rifles FOB: The government will lay the foundation stone for a new Foot Over Bridge at Rajputana Rifles to improve pedestrian movement in the regiment area, NDTV quoted an official as saying.

In addition to this, the Delhi government will unveil 150 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, five hospitals and a citywide sanitation campaign titled ‘Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi’. “From water pipelines to flyovers, every initiative reflects our vision of a capital that is healthier, safer, and more efficient,” PWD and Water Department Minister Parvesh Verma said.
