Largest Union Territory:  India is a diverse country with a total of 28 states and 8 union territories. Out of these 8 union territories, the largest Union Territory in India by size is Ladakh, which covers around 59,146 square kilometres, according to the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh. It is situated in the northern part of India and became an independent Union Territory in October 2019 after Jammu and Kashmir was divided, and since then, it has been the largest Union Territory by size in Indian. Ladakh is famous for its breathtaking mountain landscape across India and beyond its borders.

Ladakh is also famous for its harsh climatic conditions, and that’s the reason not everybody can travel there. The place is sparsely populated, despite its large size, and the only reason is its extreme living conditions and geographical remoteness. Additionally, Ladakh has no legislative assembly and is administered directly by the central government under a Lieutenant Governor. Surprisingly,  Ladakh is also the first fully literate union territory of India.
