The Delhi government has issued a Covid-19 advisory on Friday and directed national capital hospitals to ensure the availability of beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccines. All healthcare facilities have been directed to send Covid-19 positive samples to Lok Nayak Hospitals for genome sequencing. The advisory came after the national capital reported 23 positive cases.

“The hospitals must ensure preparedness in terms of availability of beds, oxygen, antibiotics, other drugs and vaccines. All equipment such as ventilators, Bi-PAP, oxygen concentrators and PSA must be in functional condition,” advisory stated.

The health department stated that all parameters must be reported daily on the Delhi State Health Data Management Portal.

Health Minister Pankaj Singh said that 23 COVID-19 cases had been reported as of Thursday, and the government is verifying whether the patients are residents of Delhi or have a travel history outside the city.

"The Delhi government is fully prepared to deal with any situation. We have already coordinated with all medical superintendents, doctors, and their teams across hospitals in the capital," Singh said.

In terms of preparedness, hospitals and healthcare facilities have been placed on alert, and all necessary resources are being mobilized to ensure a rapid response and effective care. The health department is closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates to the public. Citizens are advised to follow all health and safety guidelines and cooperate with authorities as required.

Covid-19 Cases In India 2025

Mild infections have been reported in various parts of India. According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 257 cases were recorded nationwide on Wednesday, with Kerala accounting for 95 active cases.

Maharashtra reported 56 COVID-19 cases, while Tamil Nadu recorded 66. Infections were also detected in Puducherry, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Haryana, Karnataka, and West Bengal.

On Friday, Haryana reported four new COVID-19 cases, all of which were described as mild. The affected individuals are under home observation with medical supervision. Health Minister Arti Singh Rao assured the public that there is no cause for panic and emphasized that the state government is closely monitoring the situation.

On May 19, a review meeting was held to address the recent rise in COVID-19 cases. The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Health Services and included experts from the National Centre for Disease Control, the Emergency Medical Relief Division, the Disaster Management Cell, the Indian Council of Medical Research, and central government hospitals.

“The meeting concluded that the current Covid-19 situation in India remains under control. As of May 19, 2025, the number of active Covid-19 cases in India stands at 257, a very low figure considering the country's large population. Almost all of these cases are mild, with no hospitalisation required,” PTI said.
