Several trains running between Delhi and Howrah faced disruptions in their schedules after eight wagons of a goods train derailed between Lahabon in Bihar and Simultala Simultala stations in the Asansol Division of Eastern Railways. The incident took place on Saturday, December 27, at around 11:25 at night after a cement-laden freight train derailed. 

In the aftermath of the incident, Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) were promptly dispatched to the site from Asansol, Madhupur, and Jhajha. According to railway officials, quoted by the Indian Express, the derailment has mainly affected the service on the Delhi-Howrah route. Officials and people from the railways are working around the clock tirelessly to restore normal operations at the earliest. 

No casualties have been reported so far by the railway officials.
