Delhi IAS Coaching Flood News: After three civil services aspirants lost their lives in a tragic basement flooding at a prominent UPSC coaching in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar, grief-ridden parents and relatives have demanded justice for their children. Abhishek Yadav, brother of one of the victims of the tragic incident Shreya Yadav remembered her sister as someone with the potential of clearing UPSC civil services.
"She was the darling of our family," said Abhishek, who asked uncomfortable questions to the Delhi government and MCD on why his sister died due to the negligence of authorities. "Who gave the NOC to a private institute to run a library in the basement? Why was the area flooded, and why was the drainage system not cleared?" he asked.
Her uncle who was the first one to reach the spot after the incident, demanded a case of culpable homicide be registered against the owners of the coaching.
The family of Tanya Soni, a Delhi University graduate, remembered her as a person with high motivation and big dreams. Her visibly devastated father, an SSLC employee, could not believe the way Tanya died.
"We are troubled thinking about the way she died. We are devastated… Don’t know what to do,” Vijay Kumar said as quoted by the Indian Express.
“I have no words to express how I feel. She was my eldest, she had big dreams and was highly motivated," the shattered father sobbed.
Navin Delvin, a Kerala resident and son of a retired police officer and a university teacher mother was among the three deceased. A native of Ernakulam, the 28-year-old was pursuing an M.Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and had a dream of becoming an IAS. Mathrubhumi reported that his parents were going to the church for prayers when they came to know about the incident.
Their health deteriorated as soon as they were informed about the incident. Mathrubhumi reported that they were admitted to a hospital.
