Delhi-Kolkata NH-19 Highway: Heavy rains in Bihar's Rohtas district last week have completely choked Delhi-Kolkata National Highway 19, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded for the past four days. Trucks, buses, cars, and motorcycles are stuck in a massive traffic jam stretching for miles. The queue of vehicles, lined up bumper-to-bumper, appears endless, with no immediate relief in sight.
A traffic snarl extending roughly 65 kilometers-from Rohtas to Aurangabad has brought movement to a near standstill. People are taking hours just to travel a few kilometers. The highway is riddled with potholes, and waterlogging has made the roads dangerously slippery, worsening the situation by the hour.

According to NDTV, the construction company building the six-lane highway had created temporary service roads, but those too have deteriorated into muddy, potholed stretches. Vehicles are skidding frequently, and the traffic congestion is becoming more severe. In many areas, vehicles are covering just 5 kilometers in an entire day.
Truck drivers trapped in the jam are in distress. Driver Praveen Singh shared, "We've only driven 7 kilometers in 30 hours. Even after paying toll and road tax, there's no relief." Another driver said they've been stuck for two days without access to food or water. Walking just a few kilometers is taking hours.
Those transporting raw goods and raw materials fear heavy losses. Emergency services, including ambulances, as well as tourists and pedestrians, are also badly impacted.
When approached for comments, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director Ranjit Verma declined to speak on camera. Locals allege that neither NHAI officials nor the district administration has taken any significant action so far.
