Delhi Rape Case: In yet another disturbing case of alleged rape, an 18-year-old MBBS student was repeatedly assaulted by three men for over a month. She was invited by a 20-year-old to a hotel room in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar on the pretext of a party.
The accused, accompanied by his two friends, spiked her drink, and the main accused raped her when she became incapacitated, while his two friends made a video of the sexual assault.
Later, the accused repeatedly assaulted her, using the footage to blackmail her. The police said, “She told us that after the September incident, he used the video to blackmail her into multiple subsequent assaults throughout September, threatening to share the footage on social media if she refused.”
Police registered a case in the related sections on Friday after the victim approached authorities on Thursday. The Deputy Commissioner of police (North West) Bhisham Singh said that the police are searching for absconding suspects.
The victim girl belonged to Jind in Haryana and knew the accused, as he was also from Jind and both lived in the same neighbourhood there. The victim is currently residing in a hostel in Delhi.
The accused, who is preparing for a competitive exam in North Delhi, had invited her to a hotel room party on September 9 along with two friends.
A senior official, aware of the matter, said, “After she became incapacitated, the main accused raped her while recording the act, and his two friends sexually assaulted her,” the Hindustan Times reported.
The victim found the courage to confide in her family, who stood by her and encouraged her to seek justice. On October 2, she approached the police and filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case under Section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (punishment for rape) based on her statement.
“The woman was counselled and her statement before the magistrate is to be registered. Multiple teams are looking for the accused,” the officer said.
