Delhi Metro Update: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday stated that the metro will operate in two loops on the Green Line from Monday onwards on weekdays. The authority stated that the decision will benefit the commuters by reducing the waiting time and will improve connectivity. While providing details, the authority stated that while the metro in one of the loops will operate between Brigadier Hoshiar Singh and Kirti Nagar, the other loop will run from Mundka to Inderlok. The authority further stated that the decision was taken after receiving feedback from the commuters and the officials. The Green Line provides connectivity from Haryana's Bahadurgarh to the western region of Delhi.
The decision is also likely to benefit thousands of employees who reside in Haryana but travel to Delhi for work purposes. “Trains will operate in two fixed loops: Brigadier Hoshiar Singh to Kirti Nagar and Mundka to Inderlok from Monday to Friday,” DMRC stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter). While providing details, the officials stated that the trains terminating at Mundka and Brig Hoshiar Singh metro stations will be brought back for the operation.
“Till now trains terminated at Mundka and some at Brig Hoshiar Singh metro stations. These would then be turned around and brought back with a train going either towards Inderlok or Kirti Nagar. With this new plan there is a fixed train going towards either side of the Green Line,” a DMRC official was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times. The officials further stated that the decision will benefit the commuters on both routes.
“We took feedback from passengers and this has been done to improve operational efficiency on weekdays. This will provide commuters with swifter connectivity to both Inderlok and Kirti Nagar,” the official added. The authority also emphasised that a similar setup is there on the Blue Line, one of the busiest routes.
