Delhi Metro: To enhance passenger convenience during the busy festive season, the Delhi Metro will operate 60 extra trips on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced this initiative to help reduce congestion and encourage the use of public transport.

In a statement shared on X, the DMRC stated that the metro currently runs about 4,000 trips daily. The additional services aim to provide smoother travel options for commuters.

The DMRC also stated the environmental benefits of using the metro. "Avoid traffic and pollution by choosing the Metro for your festive outings," the corporation advised. Whether you're visiting festive markets, meeting friends, or exploring the city, the Metro offers a hassle-free and sustainable travel solution.

In separate news, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reiterated that carrying firecrackers in the metro is strictly prohibited, regardless of the current ban on firecrackers in Delhi. DMRC's regulations ban the entry of any inflammable materials, including firecrackers, on metro premises. In 2022, DMRC released a video highlighting this rule through a meme, underscoring that firecrackers cannot be transported via metro.

The Delhi government has renewed its ban on firecrackers during Diwali, which will extend until January 1, 2025. This ban encompasses the production, storage, sale and use of all firecrackers, including online sales and deliveries, as part of an ongoing effort to reduce air pollution in the city. Violators of the ban face stringent penalties with individuals found igniting firecrackers risk up to six months of imprisonment and fines of up to Rs 200, while those involved in the production, sale, or storage of firecrackers may face a fine of up to Rs 5,000 and imprisonment of up to three years.
