Delhi Metro: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will start its operations earlier on four lines to facilitate transportation for participants of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon scheduled at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 12. 

As per a statement by the DMRC, metro services will begin at 3:15 AM from terminal stations on the Red, Yellow, Blue and Violet Lines. Volunteers will be deployed at important metro stations like Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Jor Bagh, Janpath and Jangpura to assist the runners.

The event organisers are also sponsoring the metro travel for participants by providing them free metro ride across the city. Runners can also collect wristbands with special QR codes along with their bibs from the organisers.

Which Routes Will Be Affected?

The following lines will be affected:

  • Red Line: From Rithala to Shaheed Sthal

  • Yellow Line: Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre

  • Blue Line: Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida Electronic City/Vaishali 

  • Violet Line: Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh (Ballabhgarh)

Updated timings:

  • Trains will run at an interval of 15 minutes between 3:15 AM and 4 AM.

  • From 4 AM to 6 AM, trains will run at an interval of 20 minutes. 

  • From 6 AM, the trains will follow the regular Sunday schedule. 

Metro service on other lines will continue as usual and will follow the Sunday timetable, according to a DMRC official.

Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon

Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon is an annual foot race (21 km) conducted in the JLN Stadium, organised by Procam International. It is an AIIMS-certified race and is listed as a Gold Label Road Race by the International Amateur Athletics Federation. The course of the half-marathon starts at JLN Stadium and passes through the India Gate, Kartavya Path, Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Sansad Marg. 

The 2025 edition will be the 20th edition of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. All confirmed Half Marathon men and women participants will receive a Puma race-day t-shirt at the Bib Collection Center. People who will reach the finish line will be awarded a finisher's medal post the marathon.

Besides the half-marathon, the event also features a range of races: a 10 KM run (open 10k run), a 4.5 KM run (Great Delhi Run), a 3.5 KM run (for senior citizens) and a 3.5 KM wheelchair run (for persons with disabilities).
