Delhi Metro Yellow Line Expansion: The Delhi Metro network has been instructed by the Central Government to create a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for extending the Yellow Line to Narela.
Areas such as Siraspur, Kheda, Alipur, and Narela are still without metro access. To address this gap, the Central Government has instructed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to create a DPR for extending the Yellow Line to Narela, as confirmed by Vijender Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly.
On January 8, Gupta revealed that he had written to the Prime Minister on December 27, 2024, urging the extension of the Yellow Line. He also shared that, on January 6, DMRC had informed him that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) had directed them to prepare a DPR for the project. However, the DMRC has yet to offer any comments regarding the development.

In addition, Gupta and the Delhi BJP Legislative Party submitted a memorandum to Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, on December 6, asking for the extension of the metro line.
Current Status of the Yellow Line
Currently, the Yellow Line connects Millennium City Center in Gurugram to Samaypur Badli in Delhi. While the extension to the Siraspur metro depot is approved, areas like Siraspur, Kheda, Alipur, and Narela still lack direct access to the metro network.
Gupta pointed out in his letter to the Prime Minister that extending the metro from Badli-Siraspur to Narela would serve millions of residents in these heavily populated areas. Many of them currently rely on inefficient public transport options. He also emphasized that the extension would help ease traffic congestion and optimise resources, making commuting more convenient for everyone in the region.
The extension of the Yellow Line is seen as a crucial step in improving public transport and reducing road traffic, which is a growing concern in Delhi and its surrounding areas.
