Uttarakhand Travel: Air services to three key destinations in Uttarakhand—Bageshwar, Mussoorie, and Nainital—are set to begin by the end of this month. The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) is working on finalizing agreements with private helicopter companies to make these services operational as reported by Amar Ujala.
The new heli-routes, starting from Dehradun, aim to enhance accessibility to these popular tourist spots. The formalities for the service are nearing completion, and operations are expected to begin once the code of conduct for the civic elections is lifted.
Preparations Underway
UCADA has been actively coordinating with private helicopter operators to ensure a smooth launch. Pawan Hans has been selected to operate flights between Dehradun and Bageshwar, while Heritage Aviation will manage services to Nainital. Mussoorie will also be part of this initiative, further increasing connectivity within the state. The authorities are also finalizing ticket prices, which will be announced soon.
To facilitate this initiative, helipads are being prepared in Bageshwar and Nainital, ensuring that the required infrastructure is in place before the services commence.

A Boost for Tourism and Disaster Management
The introduction of helicopter services is expected to significantly boost tourism in Uttarakhand by making these scenic destinations more accessible. Pilgrimage tourism will also benefit, as devotees will find it easier to reach these regions. Additionally, the helicopters can be used for rescue and relief operations during natural disasters, ensuring timely assistance to affected areas.
The state government is optimistic that this initiative will not only enhance connectivity but also provide a new dimension to tourism and disaster management in Uttarakhand.
