Delhi-NCR AQI Today: As Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) falls to a concerning level after the incessant burning of firecrackers during Diwali celebrations last night, Delhi's Environmental Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, ruled out the possibility of immediate artificial rain to mitigate Delhi's air pollution.
Sirsa on Tuesday shared Rekha Gupta-led, Delhi government's plan on artificial rain to reduce toxins in the national capital's air.
Holding a press briefing on Tuesday, Sirsa said artificial rain or cloud seeding is only possible 'when there are clouds'. "For those asking us, why are we not getting cloud seeding done. I want to tell these illiterate people, they are burning in vengeance and forget everything. In cloud seeding, the cloud comes first and then comes the seeding," said Sirsa during the briefing.
Further adding to his statement and response to Aam Aadmi Party, Sirsa said, "So, when the clouds come, then there will be seeding. The day there are clouds, then there will be seeding done, and there will be rain as well."
The remark of Delhi's environment minister came after Delhi AAP President Saurabh Bharadwaj launched a scathing attack on the government over deteriorating AQI in the city. He accused the government of failing to control pollution after Diwali celebrations and also asked why artificial rain was not carried out to mitigate rising pollution in Delhi's air.
