In Mutena village, located in the Dankaur area of Greater Noida, a 62-year-old man was allegedly killed by his paternal nephew on Monday night by being struck with a brick. Police, upon receiving information, arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The last rites were performed on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Satpal, who retired from the army in 2006 and had been farming in the village since.

Two Motives Emerge

According to the complaint filed by the victim's son, Amit, the incident stemmed from an old property dispute. Amit stated that his father was one of five brothers and the property had been divided years ago. Construction was currently underway on their gher (enclosure), where his father would stay at night. He explained that the accused had been objecting to a wall being built as part of this construction.

Amit alleged that around 11 pm on Monday, the deceased's paternal nephews—Kuldeep, Subhash, Babli—and their nephew, Ankit, confronted his father. They allegedly attacked Satpal, and during the assault, Subhash struck him on the head with a brick, leaving him seriously injured. Amit was informed and rushed to the scene, filing a complaint with the police. Satpal later died during treatment due to excessive blood loss.

However, Station House Officer (SHO) Munendra Singh stated that the preliminary investigation revealed a different trigger. The SHO said that on the occasion of Diwali, an argument broke out over the setting off of firecrackers. He stated that during this argument, the paternal nephew struck his uncle on the head with a brick, causing his death.
