Delhi-NCR Rain: The residents of Delhi-NCR witnessed heavy rainfall on Wednesday, providing major relief from the scorching heat. While the rainfall provided relief from heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, it also led to waterlogging in several key areas. Earlier on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the national capital, along with other nearby cities, including Noida and Gurugram, are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
The weather department stated that the residents have been experiencing heat for the past few days, as the national capital has not witnessed rainfall in September. It further stated that the maximum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 36.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, 2.5 degrees more than the usual. Apart from this, the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius, and the humidity level was recorded at 89 to 48 per cent.
However, the IMD also stated that Delhi is set to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. While the maximum temperature is likely to be recorded at 34 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is set to remain around 24 degrees Celsius. However, the continuous rainfall is also likely to lead to issues like waterlogging in multiple regions of the city.
As per Skymet Weather, there’s a high possibility of light rainfall on September 17, 18, and 19. During this period, the weather is likely to remain cloudy. Experts attribute the rain chances to a merging of a western disturbance and low-pressure systems from the southwestern states. Apart from this, Delhi’s air quality has again started deteriorating. Pollution levels are rising, and a light layer of haze was seen in parts of Delhi and Noida on Wednesday morning.
