Delhi Weather Forecast
- Rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms swept across the national capital, bringing a drop in temperatures.
- The weather department has issued a yellow alert, urging residents to “be updated” with the changing weather conditions.
- According to the latest forecast by IMD, moderate rain with cloudy skies will persist for the next 24 hours, with a chance of heavy rainfall in the next few hours.
- However, the weather department has forecast partly cloudy to clearer skies from October 8 onwards.
- Starting October 8, skies over the national capital are expected to clear gradually, with daytime temperatures likely to rise to 32-34 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain between 20–22 degrees Celsius.
- The MeT department attributed the rainfall to a western disturbance impacting the northern plains.
While the cool spell of rain brought relief from the scorching heat, weather experts warn that the drop in temperatures may not last. As the current western disturbance moves eastward, Delhi is expected to experience drier and warmer temperatures in the coming days.
In view of inclement weather conditions in Delhi, the Delhi airport issued an advisory for passengers urging them to anticipate delays and use an alternative mode of transport, including the Delhi Metro, to avoid traffic.

Delhi’s Air Quality Remains In “Moderate” Category
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Delhi’s air quality remained in the “moderate” range on Monday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 105 at 4 PM.
While rainfall helps remove pollutants from the air, experts suggest that the shift from monsoon to winter, fluctuations in air quality are likely in the weeks ahead.
