Navi Mumbai International Airport: The much-awaited inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to take place on October 8, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent dignitaries expected to attend.

In light of that, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have announced special traffic and security arrangements to manage the anticipated increase in traffic and ensure public safety. The Navi Mumbai International Airport is located in the Ulwe area near Panvel, and is easily accessible via various routes across the city.

Navi Mumbai Airport Opening: Traffic Restrictions & Security Arrangements

- Vehicle Ban: Heavy vehicles will be restricted from plying on all major routes across the city on October 8 to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and public safety.

- Toll Plaza Restrictions: Heavy vehicles will be restricted from entering Navi Mumbai and will be stopped at Vashi and Airoli toll plazas.

- Atal Setu Diversions: Heavy vehicles coming via Atal Setu will be prevented from entering the city.

- Timings: Heavy vehicles will be banned from 6 AM to 10 PM on October 8.

- Exemption: These restrictions will not apply to essential services, including police vehicles, fire brigade, and passenger vehicles.

- Security Arrangements: The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police will deploy special police forces across the city to facilitate VVIP movement and ensure public safety.

Navi Mumbai Airport To Boost Connectivity

- The Navi Mumbai International Airport will handle approximately 20 million passengers annually, significantly enhancing connectivity.

- Once operational, the airport will greatly improve travel convenience for residents of Thane, Mumbai, the suburbs, Raigad, and Palghar, providing them with a more accessible alternative to the existing airport.
