A special cell of the Delhi Police busted an ISI-backed honey trap racket, which was employed to target officials from security agencies and other high-profile organisations. The racket was using foreign girls, including a minor Pakistani girl, for this purpose. The group has been apprehended Dhing district in Rajasthan, as per Jagran.com.
Besides, the Delhi Police nabbed Mohammad Kasim and his brother Mohammad Hasin, allegedly for spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. It is reported that six girls were being used in the honey trap operation. The probe, cited by the aforementioned media outlet, revealed that these individuals targeted a doctor and extorted Rs 9 lakh from him.
Over the past five years, the group targeted more than 12 high-profile individuals across various parts of Delhi. Given the suspected involvement of terrorist and separatist organisation Hizb-ut-Tahrir, central intelligence agencies have increased their vigilance. So far, more than 25 such cases have surfaced in Delhi, of which 10 involved girls from Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Most of the targets were lured by these girls through social media and dating apps, as per the Delhi Police. They were then blackmailed for money and sensitive information.
In January this year, three Bangladeshi girls involved in the honey trap were caught in the Anand Vihar spa racket. They had trapped individuals through dating apps and were collecting sensitive data using hidden cameras.
From January to May this year alone, about 320 girls were arrested in honey trap-related police actions. Among them, 85 were foreigners—25 from Uzbekistan, 10 from Kazakhstan, five from Turkmenistan, 15 each from Bangladesh and Pakistan, and 15 from African countries, as per Jagran.com. The remaining 250 were locals.
