Delhi Rains: Heavy rain lashed parts of the Delhi-NCR region on Friday morning with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for Noida, Ghaziabad and parts of the National Capital. Traffic movement slowed down at multiple spots in Noida and Delhi amid severe waterlogging.

According to the IMD forecast, light to moderate rainfall along with light thunderstorms and lightning are likely in Delhi-NCR today.
“Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by light thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at Delhi ( Tughlakabad, IGNOU, Deramandi), NCR ( Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida) Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat," IMD posted on X.

North India Weather Update
According to IMD, monsoon is active across the country. Floods and landslides have claimed several lives in northern states. At least 34 people were killed during a landslide on the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route. Apart from this, multiple rivers are in spate due to relentless rain in North India. As per the weather body, light to moderate showers are expected in Jammu division on August 29 and 30.

IMD has forecast severe weather conditions in Himachal Pradesh till September 3. During this period, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in many districts. On August 29, there will be a yellow alert in Una, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur. On August 30, a similar alert is in place in eight districts including Chamba, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla. On August 31, a yellow alert has been issued for all districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. Heavy rainfall is expected to lash the state from September 1 to 3.
