AAP Failed To Control Pollution: Devendra Yadav
State Congress President Devendra Yadav has accused the AAP government of failing to control pollution during its ten years in power. He stated that while controlling firecrackers is indeed an effective step to reduce pollution in Delhi, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Environment Minister Gopal Rai do not consider the burning of stubble in Punjab as a factor contributing to the rising pollution, even though they hold Haryana and other NCR areas responsible for pollution in Delhi.
Yadav stated that former Chief Minister Kejriwal had promised to eliminate the three major landfills in Delhi before the municipal elections and after assuming power in the corporation. Minister Kailash Gahlot even made a statement in the assembly that the Okhla landfill would be eliminated by December 2023, the Bhalswa landfill by March 2024, and the Ghazipur landfill by December 2024. However, nothing has been done.
Water and air pollution in the capital is concerning, and it is adversely affecting people's health, he said. Yadav stated that despite implementing various measures over the past 10 years, such as the odd-even scheme, red light on and vehicle off, smog towers, and sprinkling water on roads, the Delhi government has proven ineffective in controlling pollution.
