Delhi Red Fort Blast: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police, on Saturday, detained another individual as part of the ongoing investigation into the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, which resulted in the deaths of 13 people and left several others injured, officials confirmed.
As reported by IANS, citing sources within the SIA, the agency detained an electrician named Tufail Ahmad from the Pulwama district. Ahmad, a resident of Srinagar city, was arrested at the Pulwama industrial estate.
On November 10, Dr. Umar Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor working at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, managed to evade arrest after his associates involved in the terror plot were detained by J&K Police and Haryana Police in the Faridabad area.
The exact role of Tufail Ahmad in the Delhi terror attack remains unclear, as authorities are awaiting the outcome of his interrogation. An official statement regarding his involvement will be issued following the investigation. His arrest came after the SIA and J&K Police issued an arrest warrant for Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Rather, a key suspect from Kulgam, in connection with the blast case.
Dr. Muzaffar, believed to have fled India in August, is suspected of seeking refuge in Afghanistan. Investigators suggest that he played a vital role as a link between the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) handlers and the broader terror network operating across various states.
The J&K Police have already requested an Interpol Red Corner Notice to facilitate his extradition and further the probe. Officials investigating the Red Fort blast are examining whether a JeM module attempted to use hospitals in Kashmir as secret weapons storage sites. The police recovered one AK-47 rifle from the locker of another terror associate in the module, Dr. Adil Rather, who was subsequently arrested.
The J&K police arrested two overground workers of terror outfit JeM. Their arrest led to the unearthing of the white-collar terror module. After Dr. Adil Rather's arrest, police arrested Dr. Muzammil from whom 360 Kg explosive material was recovered.
Dr. Umar Nabi exploded an i20 car at the traffic crossing near the Red Fort. 13 innocent civilians were killed in that terror blast and several others were injured. As of now, nine people have been picked up by police, NIA and the Uttar Pradesh Police in this white-collar terror module bust case.
