Delhi Blast: At least 9 people were killed after a deadly explosion occurred in a car near the Red Fort metro station gate number 1 in Delhi on Monday evening. Several others have sustained injuries, and a few are in critical condition as the injured have been rushed to the Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP).
Delhi police has placed a high alert in the national capital following the massive blast, as the explosion led to damage in vehicles and nearby shops, causing cracks in the glasses.
As the explosion took place, parts of the car involved in the blast strew across the area as the intensity of the explosion was very high.
Delhi Blast: What We Know So Far
- The Chandni Chowk market to be closed on Tuesday following blast near Red Fort, said Market association president Sanjay Bhargaw.
- Following the Delhi blast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah took stock of the situation in the wake of the explosion near Red Fort.
- The Prime Minister spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah, who is incharge of the Delhi police, to take stock of the situation and order the needful. On the other hand, the Home Minister Amit Shah contacted the Delhi police Commissioner regarding the matter as the probe in the case has already been initiated.
- The Delhi police commissioner, informing about the Delhi blast, said, "Today at around 6.52 pm, a slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light. An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, FSL, NIA, are here... Some people have died, and some have been injured in the incident. The situation is being monitored. The Home Minister has also called us, and information is being shared with him from time to time."
- The Home Minister is in continuous touch with the IB Director regarding the Delhi incident.
- Mahrashtra On High Alert: After 360 kg of explosive items were recovered from Haryana's Faridabad, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting with all senior police officials at Varsha this afternoon and reviewed the overall security situation. CM has asked all the agencies to stay alert after the explosion took place in Delhi.
- Following the explosions in Delhi, security has been ramped up at major railway stations and the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow. At the airport, CISF, police, and other agencies have intensified checks and strengthened the security.

- Several other places like 13 districts of Uttarakhand, Gwalior, and Bhopal have been placed on high alert.
- The incident took place after massive explosion in Car near Red Fort metro station. Six ambulences and several fire tenders were dispached to the scene after the fire department received a call about the explosion.
