Delhi Police has imposed stringent security measures, effective from January 18 to February 1, in preparation for the 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26. Among some restrictions to prevent potential threats, authorities have prohibited flying all sub-conventional aerial platforms in the national capital. Violators of these directives will face legal action.
These sub-conventional aerial platforms include paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), micro-light aircraft, hot air balloons, quadcopters and para-jumping.
Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora highlighted the risk posed by criminal or terrorist elements who could misuse such aerial objects to endanger public safety. Legal action will be taken against anyone violating these restrictions announced for the security of the national capital on Republic Day 2025.
Delhi Airport Advisory For Republic Day
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has issued an advisory regarding changes in flight schedules due to Republic Day preparations. From January 19 to January 26, flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will be suspended daily from 10:20 am to 12:45 pm.
Passengers are urged to verify flight timings with their respective airlines before travelling. IGIA, which handles approximately 1,300 flights and over 2,00,000 passengers daily, aims to minimise disruptions while ensuring safety.
