Delhi-Saharanpur Traffic Diversion: In view of Diwali, the Uttar Pradesh Police have issued a route diversion plan for the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway, which will remain in effect for three days, between Baraut and Baghpat, starting midnight on October 18.

The diversion plan will end at 12 midnight on October 21. The decision has been taken to prevent congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow during the festival of Diwali.

According to the diversion plan, heavy vehicles will be prohibited on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway between Baraut and BaghpatIn some sections, even the light vehicles will not be allowed to ply.

To Delhi

-Traffic CO Vijay Chaudhary stated that heavy vehicles coming from Shamli-Muzaffarnagar, destined for Delhi, Meerut, and Ghaziabad, will be diverted from the Aminagar Sarai turn in Baraut, towards Pilana Bhatta, Dhikoli, Chiraudi turn, and Banthala.

-Light vehicles will be sent to their destinations via the Ladhwadi turn and NaurozpurGurjar on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway in Baghpat.

From Delhi

-Heavy vehicles going to Baraut, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar from Delhi and Ghaziabad will arrive in Baghpat via Meerut, Baghpat via Chamraval Road, Pilana Bhatta, Aminagar Sarai and reach Baraut.

-Light vehicles will be sent to Baraut from Naithla Mod via Faizpur-Ninana.

From Haryana

-Heavy vehicles coming from Haryana will be diverted from Gauripur to Rashtra Vandana Chowk in Bagpat and sent to their destination.

-Light vehicles will be diverted from Naithla Mod via Faizpur-Ninana and Kotana towards Baraut.

The route diversion plans are formed to ensure no inconvenience to a large number of devotees, who visit the Gufa Wale Baba temple and offer prayers. The traffic police have said that the system can also be amended.

Diwali, this year, will be celebrated on October 20 and 21, followed by Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. Delhi is already facing heavy traffic congestion for the past few days as people are out shopping and meeting people. The Delhi Traffic Police has subsequently made several preparations around the prominent markets like Sarojini, Nehru Place and Connaught Place, among others.
