Delhi News: A new skywalk at the Sarai Kale Khan Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) station is set to be completed by mid-2025. This skywalk will link Nizamuddin Railway Station with Ring Road, facilitating easier access to Ashram. Its strategic location near the inter-state bus terminal, Delhi Metro station, city bus stand and Baansera Park road aims to improve pedestrian movement in the area.

The skywalk will feature an unpaid area that extends 280 metres towards Nizamuddin station, equipped with six travelators for added convenience. It will also provide an entry and exit point towards Ashram and connect to the metro station via lifts, escalators, and staircases.
Once operational, the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station will be a key hub, strategically located near four major transport facilities: the Delhi Metro (Pink Line), Northern Railway, Veer Haqeeqat Rai ISBT and city bus services. The station will also ensure smooth multimodal integration with connections to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Barapullah Flyover, Ring Road and the DND Link, alongside the under-construction spur of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

As the largest station on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, Sarai Kale Khan will feature six platforms and four tracks for Namo Bharat train operations. It will serve as a central point for three corridors in the first phase of the RRTS: Delhi-Panipat, Delhi-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Meerut. "This interoperability will allow passengers to transfer between corridors without needing to change trains," an official added.
Currently, Namo Bharat trains operate over a 42-kilometre stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South, with four stations in the Delhi section: Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan and Jangpura. Trial runs for the RRTS along the Delhi section, including Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar, are already underway.
