Delhi Traffic Advisory: Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for August 13, ahead of the full-dress rehearsal of the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Commuters are advised to avoid several key roads in the area due to heavy traffic restrictions in place from 4 AM to 10 AM.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: Roads Closed

Roads such as Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road and Nishad Raj Marg will be closed to general traffic during this period. The rehearsal will include security personnel, cultural groups and ceremonial performances, closely mirroring the arrangements planned for August 15 when the Prime Minister addresses the nation from the Red Fort ramparts.

Delhi Traffic Advisory For Independence Day Rehearsals: Diversions

To ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain security, diversions will be implemented for vehicles coming from ISBT Kashmere Gate, Salimgarh Bypass, Vikas Marg and nearby areas. Special routes have been designated for buses approaching from Ajmeri Gate, South Delhi, Mall Road, and Baraf Khana to keep them clear of restricted zones.

Restrictions will also affect commercial vehicles, city buses and inter-state buses operating on roads around the Red Fort. The police recommend that commuters use public transport, particularly the Metro and plan their travel in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Delhi Independence Day Rehearsals Prohibited Items

In addition, authorities have warned visitors against carrying prohibited items like cameras, binoculars, remote-controlled car keys, handbags and water bottles near the venue. The public is urged to stay alert and immediately report any suspicious objects or activities to the police.

The advisory underscores the importance of cooperation from citizens to ensure security and smooth conduct of both the rehearsal and the Independence Day event.
