Delhi Viral News: Two traffic police officers were injured in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday evening near the red light at Ber Sarai in Kishan Garh. An unidentified driver dragged the officers on car bonnet for 20 metres while they were on duty.

The police received a call about the accident, prompting immediate action. The injured officers were taken to Safdarjung Hospital by the police control room (PCR) van. Initial reports suggest that the incident may be classified as a serious offence, with allegations that the driver attempted to harm the officers.

According to the Delhi Police, the officers were conducting traffic enforcement when the incident occurred at around 7:45 PM. ASI Pramod stated that he and his colleague, HC Sailesh, were monitoring traffic violations when a car with registration number DL-9C-BC-7528 jumped the red light. HC Sailesh signalled for the vehicle to stop and although the driver initially complied, he suddenly attempted to flee. In the process, the officers were dragged for approximately 20 metres before the vehicle hit them.

Following the incident, a case has been registered under 109(1)/221/132/121(1)/3(5) BNS sections of the law, including attempted murder and obstruction of official duty. The FIR, numbered 290/2024, has been filed against the driver, who remains at large. The vehicle has been traced to its registered owner, Jai Bhagwan, from Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Investigators are actively working to locate the suspect.

In a similar incident, a traffic policeman narrowly escaped serious harm after being dragged over 100 meters on a car bonnet in Karnataka's Shivamogga district. The incident occurred near Sahyadri College during a routine check when the driver, identified as cable operator Mithun Jagadale, sped up instead of stopping, forcing the officer to cling to the vehicle. The suspect was later arrested and an investigation is ongoing, according to Shivamogga Superintendent of Police Mithun.
