Delhi Vehicle Ban: In response to the severe air pollution in Delhi and growing public health emergency associated with it, the national capital’s government has imposed strict restrictions to curb vehicular emissions. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that these measures were taken in the interest of public health. He announced that starting Thursday morning, December 18, only BS-6 vehicles registered in other states will be permitted to enter Delhi.
Additionally, entry of all BS-2, BS-3, and BS-4 vehicles will be prohibited until further notice. These include private cars, taxis, school buses, and commercial vehicles.
When Will The BS-6 Rules Come Into Effect?
-All these rules will come into effect from the morning of Thursday, December 18.
Which Vehicles Will Get Entry Into Delhi Under BS-6 Rule?
-Only BS-6 petrol and diesel vehicles registered in other states.
-All electric and CNG vehicles, irrespective of the state of registration.
Which Vehicles Will Be Barred From Entering Under BS-6 Rule?
-There will be a ban on the entry of all BS-2, BS-3 and BS-4 category vehicles registered in other states.
-This includes private cars, taxis, school buses and all types of commercial vehicles.
What Will Happen To Outside Vehicles Already Running In Delhi?
-Vehicles registered in other states running within Delhi will be checked.
-If any vehicle does not meet BS-6 standards, it will be confiscated.

What Will Be Impact Of BS-6 Rule On Interstate Bus Services?
-Since most of the interstate buses are of BS-4 diesel category, their operations may also be affected.
What Will Happen To Vehicles Without PUCC?
-From December 18, no vehicle without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUCC) certificate will get petrol or diesel.
-Vehicles will be checked at petrol pumps through ANPR system.
What If PUCC Is From Another State?
-PUCC certificate is valid throughout the country.
-If the PUCC issued from another state is valid and has not expired, fuel will be available.
What Are The Orders On Transportation Of Construction Materials?
-There will be a complete ban on transportation of construction material.
-Whether the material is being brought to Delhi from outside or being transported from one place to another within Delhi.
-Such vehicles will be stopped and seized at the Delhi border itself.
What If The Vehicle Is CNG Or Electric And The Registration Is Outside Delhi?
-Such vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi.
-The ban is only on petrol and diesel vehicles that are below BS-6 category.
