Delhi Weather Today: The weather in Delhi-NCR has been variable over the last few days. After Monday morning's light rain and afternoon’s thunderstorm, the skies in Noida and Ghaziabad on Tuesday morning remained covered in thick clouds accompanied by strong winds

Meanwhile, rain in Gurugram this morning brought relief from the heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the weather will remain variable for the next three days.

On Monday, a massive storm hit several areas in Delhi. Winds blew at 93 kmph in Palam and 78 kmph in Pusa. Light rain was also witnessed in some areas. This light rain that occurred between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm increased the humidity further.

Mahesh Palawat, meteorologist at Skymet Weather, said a cyclonic circulation formed over Punjab, Haryana, and surrounding areas, which led to the rainfall in Delhi. Moisture-laden southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea also helped develop this weather activity.

He further stated that this activity is likely to continue for the next two days, although its intensity will gradually decrease. He further added that since the air is still humid, a significant increase in temperatures is not expected during this time. After this, temperatures may begin to rise again.

The rain, which began around 7:30 am, lasted only 20 minutes in Gurugram, but in that short time, many major roads, intersections, and residential areas across the city were waterlogged. This caused significant inconvenience to people commuting to their offices and workplaces. This was followed by heavy rain in Manesar and drizzle in Gurugram.

Meanwhile, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has warned that a newly initiated phase of El Nino could severely threaten agriculture and food security across several Asian countries, including India. Originating in the Pacific Ocean, this climate phenomenon raises urgent concerns over a potential weakening of the Indian monsoon. Such a disruption can drastically impact the production of critical, rain-fed Kharif crops like paddy and maize.
