Delhi Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Delhi under a yellow alert today, forecasting partly cloudy skies with a chance of thunderstorms and lightning. The weather office has also forecasts rain for Monday, signalling a shift in conditions for the national capital.
Over the upcoming week, thunderstorms with rain are anticipated, with temperatures expected to range between a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius. Today, residents can expect some relief from the heat wave, with partly cloudy skies. Winds are likely to reach speeds of 15 to 25 km/h in the afternoon or evening. The maximum temperature is forecasted at 41 degrees Celsius.
Following this, a western disturbance may bring thunderstorms and light rain across various parts of Delhi from May 19 to 23. The recent storm on Saturday, occurring between 2:45 PM and 3:30 PM, caused significant disruption. Winds were recorded at 52 km/h at Lodhi Road, while Pitampura and Pragati Maidan saw gusts of 48 km/h. Rainfall was measured at 7.8 mm in the Ridge area and 7.5 mm at Delhi University.

In terms of air quality, it showed improvement on Saturday, moving from the poor to moderate category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) did not release an air index report that day, but according to the CPCB's SAMEER app, the air quality index was below 200. By 6 PM, it stood at 157, indicating moderate air quality.
This warning follows a storm on Saturday that resulted in four fatalities due to wall collapses in two separate incidents. In one event in Paharganj, three men lost their lives and another was injured when an under-construction basement wall gave way, damaging part of a new RRTS station's tin roof.
