Delhi Weather Update: As the southwest monsoon arrived in Delhi on Sunday, several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region are expected to receive light to moderate rain throughout the week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and wind for Tuesday.

According to an All India Bulletin published by the weather department, light to moderate rain is expected in Northwest India, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind. As per the forecast by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Delhi is likely to witness light rain on Tuesday.

Arrival Of Monsoon In Delhi

The southwest monsoon reached the national capital on Sunday, marking an early onset of monsoon this year. Delhi and NCR regions, like Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad etc are experiencing rain since the onset of monsoon.

“The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and the entire Delhi today, the 29th June 2025. Thus, it covered the entire country on 29th June, 2025, against the normal date of 08th July (nine days before the normal date),” the official statement by IMD read.

Heavy Rain Alert For Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand And Others

While the national capital is likely to receive light to moderate rain, several parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to experience heavy rain. The IMD issued a red alert for isolated heavy rainfall for various districts across the states. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Rajasthan.
