The national capital Delhi has been reeling under an acute cold wave for the last 11 days with no sight of sunlight despite clear weather at times. As per the weather department, the sunlight couldn’t reach the earth's surface due to dense fog at 100-150 meters in height. Thus Delhi has been witnessing cold day conditions.
On Saturday as well, the maximum temperature in Delhi was four degrees less than normal while the minimum temperature was also quite less compared to the last few days.
As per the weather department, the sky could be cloudy from Monday to Wednesday due to the western disturbances. Light showers are also anticipated in the national capital and adjacent areas.
Besides, very dense fog prevailed in some parts of Punjab, north Haryana and Chandigarh on Sunday. Moderate Fog was witnessed in isolated pockets over West Madhya Pradesh, West Rajasthan and north Chhattisgarh.
A bitter cold wave continues to grapple north India with people huddling around bonfires. The IMD said in a statement, "Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions are likely to continue over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan during next 2 days and significantly decrease thereafter."
