In a press conference held at the BJP's Shahdara district office, Union Minister of State and East Delhi MP Harsh Malhotra highlighted the BJP government's achievements over the past 11 years under the 'Sankalp se Siddhi Tak' campaign. Malhotra announced that the Delhi-Dehradun highway would be dedicated to the public within one and a half months, enabling travel to Dehradun in just two and a quarter hours.
The Minister emphasised the government's efforts to enhance connectivity, citing projects like the Delhi-Mumbai, Dwarka Express, and Delhi-Katra highways. Plans to connect Urban Extension Road-2 with the Delhi-Dehradun highway have also been approved.
Malhotra credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Delhi's development, citing initiatives like the Pragati Maidan tunnel, housing for slum dwellers, Bharat Mandapam, and Yashobhoomi Auditorium. He mentioned the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana benefits for seniors above 70.
Highlighting the government's inclusive policies, Malhotra stated that the Modi government has empowered every section of society. He cited the removal of Article 370 in Kashmir, enabling reservation benefits for Scheduled Castes and rights for mothers and sisters.
Malhotra also emphasised the government's focus on youth empowerment, claiming that start-ups have thrived under Modi's leadership, with 119 becoming unicorns.
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will begin at Akshardham Temple in Delhi and pass through key areas including Baghpat, Baraut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh before reaching Dehradun. The expressway is designed for speeds up to 100 km/h and will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from the current 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours.

The new expressway would significantly reduce traffic load on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and other surrounding routes.
