Delhi’s air quality remained in the "very poor'' category on Tuesday as the cold and foggy conditions continued to affect the residents of the national capital and its satellite cities. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded the air quality index (AQI) which varied from 340 in Anand Vihar and 310 in ITO. Meanwhile, RK Puram and Punjabi Bagh recorded an AQI of 330 and 325, respectively.
The air quality in the Delhi NCR is expected to improve slightly on Tuesday due to the forecast of an increase in wind speed, which can disperse the pollutants. The Air Quality Early Warning System predicted that the wind speed on Tuesday might be 16 to 18 kmph, compared to 12 kmph on Monday. Experts said that this may lead to some reduction in air pollutants, but not enough to change the air quality category.

The Meteorological Department said there are chances of a slight improvement in the air quality as the wind speed increases from Tuesday. However, the cold may increase due to light cloud cover in the next two days.
