Heavy rainfall continues to batter Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram on Monday, leading to waterlogged streets bringing metro cities to a standstill. The September 2 forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates that the situation may worsen today with no relief in sight.

The Yamuna River also breached the warning mark on Monday, which is expected to cross the danger mark of 206 meters on Tuesday. The authorities have already urged people living in floodplains to move to safer places. Here are the key points about the Delhi-NCR rain, work from home, and schools closed in Gurugram.

- Rain Alert in Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi on Tuesday, warning of heavy rainfall that has already caused significant disruptions. Monday saw heavy downpours lead to widespread traffic congestion across the city, with similar conditions reported in neighboring areas such as Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad.

- Flood fear sweeps Delhi as the Yamuna breached the warning mark on Monday. The water released from Hathni Kund barrage is expected to reach Delhi in approximately two days, potentially causing the Yamuna River in Delhi-NCR to flood by Tuesday.

- The District Magistrate of Shahdara has decided to close the old Yamuna Bridge due to the rising water level in the Yamuna. The bridge will be closed from 5 pm on Tuesday.

- Schools, Offices Closed In Gurugram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Gurugram, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 2. In response, the Gurugram administration has advised all corporate offices and private institutions to adopt work-from-home arrangements, while schools are directed to conduct online classes on Tuesday.

- Alert In Noida: Noida officials are preparing for potential flooding in the Yamuna River, with ACEO Sanjay Kumar Khatri warning that the water release is similar to the flood levels seen in 2023. To ensure the safety of the cattle, the authority has relocated 800 cows from a 135-hectare gaushala to a nearby green belt. This precautionary measure aims to mitigate the impact of the rising water levels.
