Gurugram Rains: Heavy and torrential rainfall in Gurugram caused a massive traffic jam on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway on Monday evening. The jam stretched up to 20 km between Sirhaul toll plaza near the Delhi border and Kherki Daula toll plaza. The jam continued for several hours.
The vehicles were facing problems for hours as the main line and service lane of the Delhi-Jaipur highway near Narsinghpur were completely submerged. The traffic jam was witnessed on both sides of the highway.
The weather took a sudden turn at around 3:00 pm on Monday as showers lashed the city, accompanied by a dark and cloudy sky. The inclement weather persisted for four hours till 7:00 pm. Following this, the rainfall continued intermittently.
Between 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the city received over 100 mm of rainfall. While the heavy rain caused a huge traffic jam on the Delhi-Jaipur highway, the situation worsened in the inner areas of the city as well. A traffic jam of more than 18 km was observed on both lanes from Kherki Daula to the Sirhaul border.
