Delhi NCR Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that the National Capital Region (NCR) is experiencing its longest period of nonstop rain in 13 years, with downpours spanning 14 days. IMD forecasts indicated that further rain is anticipated over the next six days.
Since 2011, the Met Department has maintained thorough records of the amount of rainfall. The previous record was 11 days, which occurred in September 2021, August 2012, and August 2013.
Other notable streaks include nine-day stretches in July 2016, August 2020, and September 2018, as well as eight-day runs in July 2013 and 2015.
“Scattered rainfall is expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan during this week, with Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi likely to receive heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday,” IMD said on Saturday.
Rain Lashed Parts Of Delhi Today
Rain lashed parts of the national capital including Mandi House and Jama Masjid areas on Sunday afternoon bringing respite from heat and humidity. Many areas of the national capital also witnessed waterlogging causing traffic snarls. In Delhi, significant rain is forecast for August 20, with light rain continuing until August 23 with a generally cloudy sky. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of around 36 degrees Celsius and a minimum of approximately 27 degrees Celsius. Over the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts widespread light to moderate rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan can expect scattered fairly widespread rainfall.
