Delhi Weather Update: Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds caused significant disruptions across Delhi and neighbouring cities on Tuesday, leading to waterlogged roads and the diversion of at least 14 flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). The adverse weather struck in the afternoon, impacting both air travel and road movement between 3 pm and 4 pm.

In its latest advisory on X, Delhi Airport said,"In continuation of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, Delhi is expected to experience inclement weather conditions for a few more hours. Flight operations at Delhi Airport may be impacted. For the latest flight information, passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines.

Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free. Passengers are advised to consider alternative modes of transport, including the Delhi Metro, to reach the airport and avoid potential delays."

Earlier in the day, Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory at 3:35 pm, alerting travellers that operations could be affected due to deteriorating weather conditions from 3:15 pm onwards. Passengers were advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight updates.

The sudden weather change brought much-needed relief from the intense heat wave gripping Delhi and surrounding cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram. Cloud cover and showers brought down the temperature, offering a welcome break for residents.

At around 2 pm, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather alert for Delhi and adjoining areas in the National Capital Region, as well as parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The forecast included thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds expected to hit within two hours.

A red alert was issued for Delhi and several NCR cities between 2:15 pm and 4:15 pm, warning of intense rain and lightning activity.

According to the IMD, Delhi's minimum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 29 degrees C, with a maximum likely to reach around 34 degrees C. A yellow alert remains in place for the city through Thursday, with forecasts of light to moderate showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds peaking at 50–60 km/h.
