Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University, is taking a step towards environmental sustainability by creating an eco wall to repurpose plastic waste. In collaboration with Smiling Tree Foundation, the college's Eco Club is training students to transform empty plastic bottles into planters, promoting both waste reduction and greenery.

The initiative began with a workshop where students learned how to develop vertical gardens using plastic bottles. The Eco Club, comprising faculty members and students passionate about environmental conservation, actively promotes waste segregation and plastic-free practices. The college has already implemented a plastic-free canteen and recycles collected waste paper.

Eco Club Coordinator Dr Pooja Gokhale Sinha highlighted the growing challenge of plastic waste and the college’s efforts to combat it. She stated that vertical eco gardens will be developed across the campus, encouraging students to adopt similar practices in their homes. Through ongoing training and awareness programs, Sri Venkateswara College aims to make sustainability a way of life for its students.
