Parliament Monsoon Session: Ahead of the Monsoon Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for national unity during this session. He praised the multi-party delegations that visited different parts of the world to make India aware of the situation after Operation Sindoor. He appreciated the collective efforts of various political parties and their representatives in "exposing" Pakistan on the global stage following the Pahalgam terror attack, calling it an example of "national unity" beyond party lines.

Prime Minister stated that all-party delegation visits to multiple countries have created a positive atmosphere in the country.

Addressing the media, he said, "The Prime Minister said, "The brutal atrocities and the massacre in Pahalgam have shaken the entire world. Keeping party interests aside, in the interest of the country, representatives of most of our parties, went to many countries of the world and in one voice, ran a very successful campaign to expose Pakistan before the world. I want to appreciate all those MPs, I want to appreciate all the parties for this important work done in the national interest and this has created a positive atmosphere in the country..."

He added, "The country has seen the power of unity. So all the MPs in the House, give it strength, take it forward and I will definitely say that every political party has its own agenda, its own role, but I accept this reality that 'Dal hit mein mat bhale na mile lekin desh hit mein mann jarur mile’.” His remarks set the tone for a session he described as a "celebration of victory."

Highlighting the nation's economic progress, Prime Minister Modi asserted that 25 crore poor people have come out of poverty in the last decade.

He said, "There was a time in the country before 2014 when the inflation rate was in double digits. Today, with the rate dropping to around two per cent, it has become a relief and a convenience in the lives of the common people in the country. 25 crore poor people have come out of poverty, which is being appreciated by many institutions of the world..."

PM Modi highlighted the achievements of Operation Sindoor, a recent military operation that, according to the government, demonstrated India's defence strength and strategic precision. He praised the Indian armed forces for the operation’s swift success, saying that the mission’s goals were met fully, and that terrorist bases were dismantled within just 22 minutes. “The whole world has seen the strength of India’s military power,” Modi stated, adding that the global community is showing increasing interest in India's domestically developed defence technologies.

Union ministers Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jitendra Singh, and L Murugan accompanied the Prime Minister during his media address.

As the Monsoon Session begins, the Opposition’s INDIA bloc is expected to raise several critical issues, including the Pahalgam terror attack, the conduct of Operation Sindoor, the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative, and the Air India AI-171 crash. The Centre is likely to face tough questions and debates across the house.

Meanwhile, the government plans to table and potentially pass multiple legislative proposals. These include key amendments such as the Manipur GST Amendment Bill, the Jan Vishwas Bill, updates to the Indian Institutes of Management Act, the Taxation Laws Amendment, the Geo-Heritage Sites and Geo-Relics Bill, the Mines and Minerals Amendment, the National Sports Governance Bill, and changes to the National Anti-Doping Act.

The Monsoon Session will run until August 21, with a recess scheduled from August 12 to 18, and a total of 21 sittings over 32 days.
