Diwali-Chhath Special Trains Update: As Diwali and Chhath Puja approach, the rush for train tickets has intensified, with passengers facing significant challenges in securing seats. Despite the Indian Railways' efforts to operate festival special trains, many coaches remain overbooked, leaving travelers with lengthy waiting lists.

Waiting List Increases As Festivals Approach

Several festival special trains passing through Hardoi have substantial waiting lists for both sleeper and AC coaches. For instance, the 05284 Anand Vihar Terminal-Muzaffarpur Festival Special train has a waiting list of 58 for sleeper class on October 16, which increases to 69 by October 23.
 
 
Similarly, the 03312 Chandigarh-Dhanbad Festival Special train, consisting entirely of third AC economy coaches, has a waiting list of 55 on October 16 and 45 on October 23.

Trains With High Demand

Other trains, such as the 04456 New Delhi-Dhanbad Festival Special and 04022 New Delhi-Gorakhpur Festival Special, are also experiencing high demand. The 04456 train has no waiting tickets available for sleeper class on several dates, The 04022 train has a waiting list of 138 on October 17 and 111 on October 24 for sleeper class.
 
The 04416 Anand Vihar Terminal-Sitamarhi Festival Special train has no third AC availability from October 17 to 22, and the 04829 Jodhpur-Gorakhpur Festival Special train has a waiting list of 116 on October 17 and 83 on October 24 for sleeper class.
 

Railway's Efforts To Reduce Passengers’ Struggle

The Indian Railways has announced plans to operate 7,000 special trains during the festive season to accommodate the surge in passenger demand. Additionally, the railway ministry has decided to add extra coaches to regular trains to boost passenger capacity . Despite these efforts, passengers are advised to book tickets in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.
