DK Shivakumar Video: A political slugfest erupted in Karnataka after a video of Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar emerged in which he could be seen hitting a supporter for allegedly putting his hand on the shoulder. The incident happened during a high-octane campaign rally of Congress in Savanur town of Haveri on Saturday. The video has since then gone viral over the social media.

According to reports, the crowd of Congress supporters were chanting "DK", "DK" when the leader stepped out of his car. At the same time, a supporter came around the vehicle and put his hand around the shoulder of the leader, which irked Shivakumar, prompting him to slap the Congress worker.

Wanted To Take A Picture

The worker, later identified as Congress Municipal Member Allauddin Maniar, was donning a yellow shirt and wanted to take a picture with the Congress leader. However, as soon as he put his arms around Shivakumar, he was met with a strike by the latter. The man, still wearing an uneasy smile, was then ushered away by security and other supporters.

Shivakumar, 61, visibly irked, asked him to move aside. The man then pushes back, and rejoins supporters as the leader resumes his march. The Congress leader was in Haveri to rally for party candidate Vinoda Asooti.

BJP Attacks Congress Leader

Hitting out at the Congress leader for his high-headed behaviour, BJP's IT cell Amit Malviya asked why Congress workers even work for the party even after their leaders humiliate them.

"...I wonder why do Congress workers even want to work for the Congress? Their leaders slap them, humiliate them, don’t give them tickets to contest (all of them are cornered by family members)… Is it for the corruption money they make on the side? No self-respect?" Malviya wrote in an X post.
