The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a tender for the design and construction of underground tunnels, ramps, and four underground Metro stations include Dayabasti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, and Jhandewalan Mandir, as part of the upcoming Phase-4 Green Line Extension from Inderlok to Indraprastha.
Each bidder must submit a security deposit of Rs 240 million, and the project is scheduled to be completed within 42 months of the work being awarded, according to the tender dated May 20, as per the HT report.
It said bids are sought for the “design and construction of twin tunnels by shield tunnel boring machine (TBM), cut and cover tunnel box work, underground ramps and four underground stations..”, with a deadline of July 8 for submitting bids, according to HT report.
Delhi Metro Phase-4 Project
In March 2024, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved two new corridors for Phase-4 of the Delhi Metro. One is the 12.3 km Green Line extension from Inderlok to Indraprastha, featuring 10 new stations. The other is an 8 km extension from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block, which will be part of the upcoming Golden Line running from Tughlakabad to Aerocity.
In addition to the four underground stations, the bidder will also be responsible for work on the entry and exit points of a fifth station at Nabi Karim, including the retrieval and launching of shafts, according to the tender. Other tasks include architectural finishing, drainage work, and providing water supply.
Delhi Metro Green Line Stations
The 10 stations on the Green Line Extension include Inderlok, Dayabasti, Ajmal Khan Park, Jhandewalan Mandir, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Delhi Gate, Delhi Sachivalaya, and Indraprastha. Of the total 12.3 kilometers, 11.3 km will be underground, with only a 1 km stretch elevated, officials familiar with the project said.
Delhi Metro Phase-4 Interchanges
This extended corridor will also feature five interchanges at Inderlok, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Delhi Gate, and Indraprastha, providing connections to the Red, Magenta, Yellow, Violet, and Blue lines of the Metro network.
“The Inderlok-Indraprastha Line will provide enhanced connectivity to the Bahadurgarh region of Haryana as commuters from these areas will be able to travel on the Green Line to directly reach Indraprastha, as well as various other areas of central and east Delhi,” the Centre had announced in March 2024, setting a deadline of March 2029 for its completion.
The tender follows DMRC’s announcement in April that it received the first loan tranche of Rs 4,309.53 crore from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This funding will help speed up tendering for the remaining three Phase-4 corridors, Inderlok to Indraprastha, Saket G Block to Lajpat Nagar, and Rithala, Narela, Nathupur. A total of Rs 14,600 crore is needed for these corridors, with Rs 6,252.91 crore expected from JICA.
As part of its Phase 4 expansion, DMRC is building nearly 103 km of new metro lines across six corridors. Three of these, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg (Magenta Line Extension), Majlis Park to Maujpur (Pink Line Extension), and Aerocity to Tughlakabad (new Golden Line), are already under construction and nearing completion. The Pink Line is expected to be finished by the end of this year, while the other two corridors have a deadline of mid-2026.
