Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Chairman Pratap Sarnaik announced on Sunday that, from July, a 15 per cent discount will be offered on advance booking tickets for long-distance travelers. He added that the scheme will particularly benefit commuters traveling on e-Shivneri buses running between Mumbai and Pune. The steps are taken to attract passengers during the off-season.

The announcement was made during the grand celebration of the 77th Foundation Day of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) at Yashwant Natya Mandir in Matunga on Sunday. The event also included the unveiling of several key reforms and the honoring of top-performing employees.

"This will ensure transparency in the transfer process, and employee transfers will be conducted based on service seniority. All inter-regional, intra-regional, and intra-departmental transfers will henceforth be conducted online," he said.

The MSRTC also announced a new incentive scheme for drivers who provide accident-free service. Sarnaik said that for the past 77 years, ST has been working hard to offer transport services to people from all parts of society, including remote villages and tribal areas, regardless of weather conditions. He added that in the future, ST will definitely celebrate its 100th anniversary.

"Very few organisations have survived for more than 75 years in the country, and ST Corporation is one of them." he said.

MSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Madhav Kusekar, along with other senior officials, was present at the event. The Minister also expressed confidence that, with continued public support, MSRTC would proudly celebrate its centenary in the years to come.

As part of its modernization efforts, Sarnaik launched an Online Transfer System to make staff transfers more transparent and reduce human involvement. This system will manage all transfers between regions, within regions, and between departments, marking a big move toward digitisation.
